A design must be new and original when it is filed — publishing or selling the article first can sink the application. If you are preparing a launch, it is worth filing before the design becomes public.

Registered designs with their registration number, the Locarno class, the article the design is applied to, the proprietor, and the representations of the design itself.
Yes. A registration can be cancelled on grounds including prior publication, lack of novelty, or the design being purely functional. A petition is filed with the Controller.
Ten years from the date of registration, extendable by a further five years on application before the initial term expires — fifteen years in total.
